Introducing the Tangents Series
Tangents is where I defend what I like and hate, pushing myself creatively by focusing on what really lights me up. Some topics are expected, while others are… less expected. But all are written in my own style and flair, as the most me type of writing possible.*
Why? Two reasons:
I miss the old style of the internet. After reading Hate Reads, I was struck by the overall feeling that the internet used to be more fun. People used to chatter and debate about topics without it derailing to a more dark and decrepit space. Not all conversations need to collapse towards Godwin’s law. I wanted to let loose and write about my passions, and have the kinds of friendly discussions that were fun. Hate Reads was the inspiration for this series.
I’m passionate about many, many things. The Immersive Wire ticks my professional boxes, but it lacks the space for me to be creative within its virtual (reality) walls. I could hardly bring in a quote from Ted Lasso, or hit a tangent about The Last of Us. This is my playbox to write about what I am really passionate about.
The series may make me look like a permanently-online couch hermit who prattles about trends no-one cares about. That’s partially right, though many things I care about are birthed from the deep, dark and slightly fleshy crevasses of web pages and community forums. Don’t worry, I touch grass with other passions.
The first season will come out weekly, oscillating between what I like and hate. A second season may follow if this one works. After writing a couple of books and several dubious short stories, this has been the most fun I’ve had in writing. You will take a peek into my mind; whether you agree is up to you. Enjoy.
